As mentioned in a previous post, we're getting married... or I can now say we GOT married last week! We did a destination wedding to Las Vegas, spending 5 days in the heat. A wedding and vacation in one.
Through to the last day, the hardest part of it all was leaving Daisy behind. However, I was fortunate enough to leave her with a friend of mine who is experienced with little dogs. She did a phenomenal job of not only taking amazing care of Daisy, but providing me with at least two updates on her each day with photos and a couple videos. I have to say that without these updates I would have been a wreck!! They put me totally at ease so I could enjoy myself and sleep through the night.
For the wedding, we definitely made sure that Daisy was represented. I got a flower girl basket for my niece to carry down, and they had one with big gerber daisies and little daisies throughout... it was perfect! Our photographer took some photos of it...!
Daisy's time there also did wonders for her dog socialization. My friend has two small dogs (bigger than Daisy), and normally our visits involved Daisy hiding, tail tucked between her legs, growling if the dogs got too close to her. After spending time there, while she didn't play with them, she certainly tolerated them with ease. When we picked her up, it was amazing to see her in amongst them with tail high, not caring they were rubbing against each other. Of course once she realized we were there, she was very very excited. She was wriggling with tail wagging, running between my legs and jumping in my arms then Steve's. When we brought her home she walked around the house, going in each room, tail wagging! It was quite the sight! She was very happy to be home.
We've had the following week off from work as well, and have included Daisy in all our outings. She sits curled up in my lap as I write this... content to be home with her mom and dad (!).
