A Discovery in the Forrest

You know those dreams where you're in your house, and you suddenly notice a little door you never saw before, and when you open it you discover a whole other wing, outside area, or part of your house you never knew existed? I, for one, have had those dreams all my life (my hubby gets to hear about them all the time...!), and on Thanksgiving day last weekend, it happened for real!

It was a beautiful fall day, with the sun shining alongside cool crisp air. With fall here, it seems as though the grass and bushes have kind of "sunk", and we're now able to walk through our forrest areas with greater ease and without being swarmed by bugs. As we came around part of the forrest, hubby thought he saw something in the distance... so we  walked inside the forrest more, and there it stood - a little old building on our property!

I don't know if it was once a hunting shack, or maybe used as a place of solitude, but a tree had clearly fallen on top and crushed it down. There's a dirt floor, no obvious windows, and no obvious signs of wildlife living in it... but there's a lot of wood that I'd love to have taken apart to use as reclaimed wood for a wall feature in one or more bedrooms.

It'll be something we can work on next spring/summer, as we have enough going on right now, but so exciting! Who would have thought this existed on our property? We could have lived here for years without venturing over there, never knowing it was there.

I opened that door in my dream and discovered something new. What a neat place this is...
